Ir. Jasper den Besten is professor (Dutch: lector) in new cultivation systems, with a focus on cultivation without daylight. He is member of the honorary board of the Association for Vertical Farming. Since 2009, HAS University has been involved in very applied LED-lit climate cell research. Initial research was mainly related to yield and feasibility research, whereas nowadays it has shifted towards research in support of propagators and breeders, and on biodiversity and bio content.
